Deborah Cook is the Verizon Professor in the Business Information Technology Department at Virginia Tech. She obtained her Ph.D. from Texas A&M University and M.S. and B.S degrees from Virginia Tech. Her research interests focus on business process modeling and control. Dr. Cook's research has been published in various journals including IIE Transactions, Decision Sciences, European Journal of Operational Research, and the International Journal of Production Research. She has obtained research funding from the National Science Foundation, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Advanced Technology Program, and the USDA Forest Service. Dr. Cook was previously a Research Scientist in the Industrial Engineering Department at Texas A&M University and the Director of the Forest Products Manufacturing Research Program. Her industry experience includes time working for Sperry Corporation and Hercules Chemical Company.
