Professor of practice
The Virginia Tech Grado Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) invites applicants with industry experience for a non-tenure track Professor of Practice position based in Blacksburg. The successful candidate for this position will be part of the ISE Capstone (“Senior Design”) Program Teaching Team with instructional lab management responsibilities and additional teaching responsibilities, as needed. A primary component of this position is building and maintaining relationships with organizations sponsoring capstone projects.
Assistant Professor - Manufacturing Analytics and Artificial Intelligence
The Grado Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at Virginia Tech invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective August 2025. We seek outstanding candidates with a focus on Manufacturing Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (AI), including but not limited to advanced manufacturing processes (e.g., additive manufacturing) and systems; machine learning in manufacturing; digital twins; quality engineering; design automation and generative design; autonomous manufacturing; industrial internet; manufacturing informatics; robotics, automation, and human-robotic interaction; sustainability, security, reliability and resilience in manufacturing processes, systems, and supply chains; and closely-related areas within the Decision Science domain.
Assistant Professor - Systems Engineering
The Grado Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at Virginia Tech invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty positions, effective August 2025. We seek outstanding candidates with a focus on Systems Engineering, with areas of interest including, but not limited to, systems engineering theory, machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) as these relate to or involve: systems engineering, engineering design, digital engineering, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), mission engineering, systems of systems engineering, verification & validation, socio-technical systems, and systems architecting and modeling.
