Systems engineers are responsible for system concept, architecture, design of the system, assessment of risk, verification and validation of systems, and management of complexity. Systems engineering is the discipline that provides the tools, techniques, methods, knowledge, standards, principles, and concepts that enable them to succeed. Innovative and effective systems engineering is inevitably linked to the development of systems that successfully achieves mission success.

The International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) at Virginia Tech aids to provide its members with the resources to develop and disseminate the interdisciplinary principles and practices that enable the realization of successful systems. Our mission is to provide educational, networking, and career-development opportunities to its members in order to grow the global community of systems engineers and systems approaches to challenges with Artificial Intelligence.
