(April 5, 2018) ISE M.S. student Andrew Law was named the 2018 Outstanding Master’s Student in the College of Engineering.  He received the award from Graduate School Dean Karen DePauw at the Graduate Education Week awards banquet on March 29, 2018.

Andrew came to Virginia Tech ISE department after completing his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Lehigh University in 2014. He has worked as a lab assistant in the Smart Manufacturing Analytics Research Technology (SMART) Lab since 2016 under his advisor, Dr. James Kong. According to Dr. Kong, Andrew is an extremely hard working student and highly motivated for his research work. He made a significant contribution to developing the experimental apparatus for smart additive manufacturing at the SMART Laboratory. Dr. Kong attributed Andrew’s achievement to his highly-balanced skill sets in both data analytics and experimental apparatus development.

Andrew currently serves as the treasurer of the VT student chapter of INFORMS and represents the ISE department in the Graduate Student Assembly. Once he completes his M.S., he will continue his Ph.D. studies here in ISE.
