(July 31, 2017) A rising ISE senior, Christine Bodenheimer, was selected to receive the Howard Bernstein Scholarship by the Material Handling Education Foundation, Inc. (MHEFI) this spring. She was chosen due to her academic performance, letters of recommendation, and her responses to the questions about her experiences in the material handling industry as well as her short- and long-term career goals.
This summer Christine is working for Excella Consulting in Arlington, VA as a software developer on a project for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration services. This role has helped her vastly improve her computer programming capabilities. She said she has also gained insight on how to collaborate on a scrum team with people of various roles including business analysts, designers, and developers. With shifts to incorporate increasing amounts of automation in many manufacturing areas in the US, she believes having the background of both industrial engineering and computer science will empower her to make a greater contribution to the material handling field in the future.
