(September 18, 2017)  Assistant Professor Dr. Alejandro Salado was recently appointed as a liaison of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). During his three-year term, he will provide systems engineering expertise to support the development and editorship of the ISO standards for systems engineering.

As described by ISO, “these standards [for systems engineering] convers the processes, supporting tools and supporting technologies for the engineering of software products and systems.” The standards are primarily focused on process models and good practices (methods and techniques), aiming at supporting the governance of “the total technical and managerial effort required to transform a set of customer needs, expectations, and constraints into a solution and to support that solution throughout its life.” Hence, their application is independent of the application domain, such as aerospace, automotive, or healthcare systems.
