As ISE's, we are taught to systematically solve complex problems that involve multiple disciplines and functionaries. I came to ISE to solve big picture problems that impact the bottom line instead of being stuck in a cubicle drawing in CAD all day.
One of the defining characteristics of ISE at Virginia Tech is how we can cover the breadth of the discipline. Both across our clusters of specialization options - human factors engineering and ergonomics, operations research, systems engineering, production systems, management systems and within these areas, we cover most of the possible areas of need.
