ISE Mentoring Program
Alpha Pi Mu started its 2016-17 ISE Mentoring Program with a kickoff meeting on November 2nd where potential mentors and mentees learned about the program and what it means to be involved. Also, officers from Alpha Pi Mu made an announcement the following morning to the Introduction to ISE class where numerous sophomores expressed interest in participating in the program as a mentee. In the week following, mentors were paired with mentees so that meetings could begin.
The pairs will meet every few weeks where the mentor will provide academic and professional support to their mentee. Additionally, it represents a great chance for the mentor to better their leadership ability among other skills as they work with their mentee.
Hiking to McAfee Knob!
On Saturday, November 5th several members of Alpha Pi Mu went hiking to McAfee Knob and had dinner at The Homeplace Restaurant afterwards. This gave the members a chance to interact in a more social setting.
New Member Initiation
On Thursday, November 10, Alpha Pi Mu hosted its new member Initiation in the War Memorial Chapel followed by a reception in Durham Hall where candidates became full members of the organization. The initiation and reception were attended by several professors along with officers and current members of Alpha Pi Mu. John Montague, pictured above, member of the ISE Advisory Board and the ISE Academy of Distinguished Alumni, also attended the ceremony.
