(January 24, 2017) Virginia Tech’s 2016 Simulation Team became world champions by taking first place in the international Simio LLC student simulation competition. The team consisted of Michael Mason, Alvaro Morales, and Roman Tejada, with Dr. Laurel Travis serving as advisor. They solved a warehouse distribution problem designed to challenge model-building skills, creativity, project management, and even video production and presentation skills. An international panel of judges placed them at the top of a field of 250 teams from 14 countries.
This was the first time Virginia Tech ISE students participated in this competition. Additional information on the competition can be found at: www.simio.com/academics/student-competition.php
